The purpose of HWVAS is to promote the conservation, protection and improvement of this outstandingly beautiful and unspoilt part of England. The Society operates entirely in the public interest and is non-political.
The specific aims of the Society can be summarised as three 'P's: PLAN, PROTECT AND PROMOTE.
The Herefordshire draft UDP (Unitary Development Plan), which the Secretary of State says should be given "significant weight", wholly supports these aims.
The statutory Management Plan for the AONB, has been endorsed by the Herefordshire Council and will ensure compliance.
The Society works closely with other bodies having similar interests in Herefordshire, including Campaign to Protect Rural England, Environment Agency, English Nature, Wye Valley AONB Partnership, The Lower Wye Valley Society, Herefordshire Nature Trust, Arrow Valley Residents' Association, and Parish councils.
HWVAS welcomes new members and supporters who share in its objectives. Membership is open to every one and is not confined to local residents. In order to join HWVAS, please complete and return the membership application form.
